Welcome to the website dedicated to the joy of exploring in pictures the state of Illinois! From windswept prairies to majestic bluffs overlooking the Mississippi, from wooden French colonial homes to modern steel and glass skyscrapers in Chicago, from the little known small towns and farms to the places where Abraham Lincoln (and three other presidents, including our current one) rose to prominence, you will find it all here at Illinois in Focus. The goal of this website is to educate people on the many great attractions Illinois has to offer, to inspire those living in Illinois to enjoy the freedom of exploring what is in their own back yard, and to encourage those in other states and around the world to come visit and see all that the Land of Lincoln has to offer.

Recent Additions and Updates
New Memphis (5-13-12)
New Memphis is a small unincorporated town in southwestern Clinton County near the junction of state routes 160 and 177 just south of New Baden.
New Baden (Revised 5-6-12)
New night pictures have been added to the New Baden page, including the one to the left of the moon over a lake just south of town.
Hardin (4-29-12)
The county seat of picturesque Calhoun County, Hardin is a town of about 1,000 people on the Illinois River.
Flora (3-23-12)
Flora is a community of about 5,000 people in southern Illinois. George Rodgers Clark passed through on his way to capturing Vincennes during the Revolutionary War. It is also home to the creative geniuses who made the "Is We Is" video in the 80's.

Winchester (Revised 3-19-12)
New pictures have been added for Winchester, the county seat of Scott County and former home of Stephen Douglas.

Maeystown (Revised 5-13-12)
New pictures have been added for Maeystown's annual Fruehlingsfest (Springfest), which is held the first Sunday of every May.
Kampsville (4-29-12)
Located in northeastern Calhoun County along the Illinois River is Kampsville, a town of about 350 people, which is home to the American Center for Archeology and the McCully Heritage Project.
Meppen (4-12-12)
Tucked under the Illinois River bluffs in Calhoun County is Meppen, a town of about 50 people. It features an old stone church and a couple of barn quilts.
Springfield (Revised 3-22-12)
New pictures have been added for Springfield, including ones of the capitol building and the Lincoln Tomb.
Pittsfield (Revised 3-19-12)
New pictures have been added for Pittsfield, including some of the historic East School, which now is home to the Pike County Historical Society.
