Located in Clay County in southeastern Illinois is Bible Grove, a small village of fewer than a hundred people.
Before the current town was settled, a group of hunters came upon a Bible laying on the ground in a grove of trees, which is where the current village gets its name. The early settlers enjoyed horse racing, dances, and whiskey stews.
The picture to the right is the Bible Grove Christian Church at the corner of the appropriately named Apostle and Ararat roads.
Located in town is Gym Bob's Jamboree (pictured below) where shows are held the first Saturday of the month featuring country, gospel, and 50's & 60's music. To visit Gym Bob's website, click here.
Southwest of town is Tolliver Cemetery, which is pictured below in autumn.
Also southwest of town is the building that used to house the Little Prairie Church.
