Commerce Street has several historic buildings, including the 1897 blacksmith shop pictured above.
West of the blacksmith shop on Commerce Street is Galena's Old Market House that was completed in 1846. The market housed shoppers and vendors for more than six decades and was the focal point of life in 19th century Galena. Today it is the Galena welcome center and is open daily 9-5.
The building above is the old Galena post office and customs house.
Just east of Commerce Street is a foot bridge that crosses the Galena River, leading to Grant Park and Park Avenue.
